Samanda in Malaysia – Part 2

13 JUNE 2015:

Day 2 in Malaysia….

We didn’t make any plans on our second day so we decided to do as much as possible as it was also our last day in Malaysia.

LITTLE INDIA – BRICKFIELDS

maxresdefault‘Little India in Brickfields is a medium sized town located just outside of the city centre, Kuala Lumpur. Brickfields is more commonly known as the Little India of Kuala Lumpur due to its high percentage of Indian businesses as well as residents. Brickfields also got its name from the earlier days when the area was a clay pit and many bricks were made from the clay.’

Address: Jalan Travers to Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

Little India was our first port of call, where we had some lunch at a nice little restaurant outside. Amanda got to have her curry served on a banana leaf, and then we took a gander around at some of the shops. Indian fashion is very beautiful, but unfortunately just doesn’t really suit me!

The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers, are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

We didn’t pay to go inside but we only really wanted to get some good photographs so being outside provided a better view of both towers. As the towers are so high, Amanda had to lie on the very hot floor in the middle of the square whilst I stood above her to create some photos with me in. Passersbys thought we were crazy but I am kind of used to that…

CURVE SHOPPING MALL

This is a very nice, and modern shopping centre in the Petaling Jaya side of Kuala Lumpur. Lots of indoor and outdoor eateries and bars with a nice relaxed atmosphere in the evening. There are plenty of shops in the shopping mall and also in their sister mall called eCurve which is easily accessible via a walkway.

THAI ODYSSEY MASSAGE SPA

indexThis is a Thai spa located inside the Curve shopping centre. We each opted for a traditional Thai massage for 60 minutes and a 30 minute foot massage. As it was a proper spa, it was considerably more expensive than it would be if you went to one in the streets of Malaysia as we paid around £25 each for both the Thai and foot massage. Still considerably cheaper than anything in the UK though! The service was excellent, lots of stretching and pressure on certain parts of the body which made it somewhat painful at times but that is to be expected with a Thai massage. Nice, friendly, clean place so I have no hesitation in recommending it.

ESCAPE ROOMS (ECURVE)

0615 Malaysia (155)I loved this place! They have this concept dotted around the world and it seems to be getting more and more popular, particularly in Asia. This venue had 6 different themed rooms to choose from with various difficulty ratings. They had many time slots to choose from as they close as late as 1am. The staff were very helpful which made the experience even better, even if they did poke fun at us a few times! We opted for two sessions in two different rooms. We started off with ’The Mummy’ with a difficulty rating of 3/5 and unfortunately we did not succeed. You are allowed to ring the buzzer up to two times during the 45 minute game to get clues from the staff and we forgot to do that so we basically just ended up failing.

The next room we tried was ‘Prison Break’, a little harder rated at 4/5. We decided to use the opportunity to get clues when we got stuck this time and managed to complete the game with 2 minutes to spare. We were quite happy with ourselves as we were a meagre team of two, whereas most teams are much larger, around 4-6 people. I wish we had time to try the other rooms too but sadly it was time to go back to the hotel for bed.

HADRAMAWT (YEMENI AND ARABIAN RESTAURANT)

00467_007On our way to the taxi rank, we decided we were a little hungry (as always) and managed to find one restaurant that was still open at 11pm. We basically stuffed ourselves with a feast of hummus, bread and a shared mixed grill. We found it very hard to get up from our seats afterwards! The food was delicious so I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Middle Eastern food.
